DaRailyard Weekly Feature Contest: My turn

Sun Nov 8, 2009, 12:31 AM
  • Mood: Zest
So, for those of you that frequent the DaRailyard chatroom, you'll notice that we started a weekly feature this past week, which we intend to have every week. The first dev selected was a feature that was given in honor of labrat-78's passing, one of her own works:

:thumb105104633:

This week, its my turn to choose the Weekly Feature! My method is to choose from the favorites I have made over the past week that are rail-related, so if you see a fave from me and it's my turn, you'll have a chance at getting featured! So, without further ado...

This week's Weekly Feature!:

This piece, by :iconshenanigan87:, was selected because of its crisp focus and unique subject matter, as well as the warm colors that the lighting created. There might not be any monorail trainset in the shot, but it sure is a conversation piece.

And now, our runners up, of which there are 3:

:iconthe-nightshift: is a deviant I only recently started watching, and he takes some interesting shots of the NJT system. This one looked like an old photo of the interurban lines like in Chicago, and the late-day lighting made it just epic.

:iconirwingcommand: and his fellow British railfans have really been showing improvement in their work lately, with this dev as a solid piece of supporting evidence. It may be just a simple commuter train, something you see a lot of from them; but upon closer look, the lines all come together, the focus is sharp, the colors are bright, and there is a sense of steady motion in this shot that makes it great.

:iconnettwerk: is another deviant I just started following, and a lot of his stuff is great, so I would recommend checking out the rest of his gallery. As for this shot... the colors and setting are very warm, and the angle and the closeness of this shot make the whole consist stand out in a bold way.

The decision was very hard to make between these four deviations! Such good shots. I look forward to seeing everyone come up with other great deviations in the coming weeks! Next week, its :iconfactorone33:'s turn, so look to his journal or in our chatroom, DaRailyard, for the next weekly feature! :D

Highball!,
