Steamin' up on Copley Hill
I could see the signal light
Wind was blowing, whistle shrill
Scotsman flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Chuffed by fast, I heard a voice
Standing pushing every valve
I had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
I just had to trust imagination
My pistons going shoom shoom shoom
"Son," he said "Grab your trucks
I've come to take you home."

To keep in silence I was foiled
My friends would think I was a butt
Turning from coal straight to oil
Open tracks would soon be shunt
So I went from day to day
Tho' my rods were more like struts
'Till I thought of what I'd say
Which branch line I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I chuffed right out of my own livery
My pistons going shoom shoom shoom
"Hey," he said "Grab your trucks
I've come to take you home."
(Back home to Crewe.)

When dispatchers spin their nets
I'm never where I want to be
And controller he does sweat
When I think that I am free
Watched by retired steamer vets
Who douse their fires but still can steam
No one taught them not to fret
I will show another dream
Today I don't need a replacement
I'll tell them what the smile on my face meant
My pistons going shoom shoom shoom
"Hey," I said "You can keep my trucks
They've come to take me home."
So, I saw my friend :iconulysses-mk1:'s deviation, "Copley Hill" (shown here: [link]), and immediately I thought, "Hey, that sounds like "Solisbury Hill", which is the title of a song. Peter Gabriel's biggest hit, in fact.

And then these... WORDS just started flowing into my head, y'know? And before I knew it, I had an affectionate parody of this song, suitable for steam lovers, UK steam lovers, Thomas ahemfansahem, and other railfans that would be OK with me doing this sort of thing.

Though, when you look at the whole thing now, you can see... a story about an old UK steamer being rescued for restoration, I think. Which is actually kinda cool.

Also, it turns out that Ulysses-Mk1's work was done as a tag team of sorts, off ANOTHER friend's project in a livestream session he had today... talk about your collaborative inspiration, eh?

Anyways, enjoy.

And no, this is NOT the start of a trend of fanart-works from me... this was a ONE-TIME deal.

I think.
